White House considering asking foreign visitors for intimate details like social media info and phone contacts

Following President Trump's executive order on immigration, Stephen Miller, the White House policy director revealed to officials of the State Department, Customs and Border Patrol, Department of Homeland Security and others that Trump is deeply committed to the executive order and has the support of the public.

On that note, Trump administration officials are discussing the possibility of asking foreign visitors to disclose all websites and social media sites they visit, and to share the contacts in their cell phones. Refusal to comply could lead to the visitor being denied entry.

The White House press secretary, Sean Spicer, was contacted by CNN for comments but he did not respond. Meanwhile, on Sunday, Trump defended the executive order he signed, saying in a statement that the ban was not about religion but about keeping America safe.

"We will continue to show compassion to those fleeing oppression, but we will do while protecting our own citizens and voters,"  He said.

"This is not a Muslim ban, as the media is falsely reporting. This is not about religion -- this is about terror and keeping our country safe."

'Rap is dead' in Nigeria - Terry Tha Rapman supports Yung6ix

Earlier today, rapper Yung6ix expressed his frustration with Nigerian rap music with a tweet that reads, 'When I wanna listen to African rap I play Yung6ix and SA rappers wtf is going on with the Nigerian Rappers ? Wake up'.

Apparently he's not alone in his line of thoughts. LIB reached out to other Nigerian rappers to comment on the issue and our first response came from a veteran in the industry, Terry Tha Rapman who says,

'I kinda get where he's coming from. I've been stressing this for long, when I said 'rap is dead' in Nigeria I didn't mean nobody is rapping. I meant we (being the fans, media and promoters) stopped supporting rap music as it should be at a point'.
He continued to say, 'Now would you blame rappers for fine tuning their style? Rappers hardly get the airplay/support as our pop counterparts so after years we started adapting. I still believe there's hope. We are far from the days of Trybesmen, 2shotz, Ruggedman, Modenine and when MI dropped Talk About It and MI2. We need more rap concerts to promote hip-hop culture. The few ones I've been to were not encouraging'.

'Never bite the hands that once fed you & despise the home that gave you shelter' - E-Money's wife speaks out

E-Money's wife, Juliet Okonkwo has finally shared her thoughts on the ongoing drama between Five Star Music and Harrysong. Speaking out in a post on social media, she wrote:

"Never break the pot that once gave you water .Never bite the hands that once fed you. Never despise the home that once gave you shelter.
Never punch holes in the umbrella that once gave you cover. Never insult the breasts that once gave pleasure. And never malign the church that once gave you fire. If , for now you have outgrown their usefulness, leave them intact , and go quietly and honourably. For it may be the time and season of Breakthrough for others also . Becareful how you close a door. Never ever bang it, you may need to walk through that same door tomorrow. Have a Blessed Week Friends"

Man Utd humiliated me, but that was it- David Beckham denies ever being sexually abused as a kid amid English football scandal

Amidst the ongoing Child abuse scandal currently engulfing British Football, former Manchester United and Real Madrid player, David Beckham has revealed he was never abused as a child at Man United's academy, but he was 'humiliated'.

In recent months, so many footballers have come out with varying accounts of their ordeals of sexual abuse and intimidation while they were young and playing for academies at British clubs, with popular trainer Barry Bennell convicted of child sexual abuse crimes and currently serving jail time.
But Beckham, part of United's famed class of 92' has revealed he was never abused by Man United's academy coaches or staff.
"It's disgraceful what's gone on and there has to be something done about it," Beckham said on BBC's Desert Island Discs radio show.
"But there was never anything at Manchester United.
"The closest [thing to abuse] would've been certain professionals. If we'd gone out of line they'd make us do a funny dance in the middle of the changing room in front of our heroes at the time.
"[It was] humiliation, and that was all it was, but that was just to teach us a lesson, there was never any wrongdoing."
"I'd like to believe the FA are doing everything they can to find out about the allegations. The more these ex-professionals voice their opinions, that's when there will be change.
"I would like to think the clubs are all on board with this."

He is witty and always breaking boundaries" I go Dye pens down tribute to Basketmouth

Comedian, I go Dye took to his Instagram page to pen down an emotional tribute to fellow comedian, Basketmouth. He recounted how he met him in UNIBEN and described him as witty, spontaneous and well put together. Read what he wrote below;

@basketmouth The comedy Icon. It all comes back to me like it was yesterday any time I think about this "blessing" called Basketmouth.
He is witty, spontaneous, well put together, always breaking boundaries and crazy.Even with his gargantuan achievements in the comedy world, he still works hard like an upcoming comedian. First time I saw him as I recall was in 1999 in UNIBEN, where I was billed to perform in one of those campus shows. He was tall and skinny, Bright Okpocha, whose eyes were as big as his dreams. His performance that night was on point as he thrilled the crowd more than you expected. I was thrilled that I was forced to invite him to Prest Motel. After his performance that night, we went to the pool side to gist for a while, after talking with him for just 5 minutes I then realised that his eyes were not just big for nothing after all, the young man must have seen the big picture from those early years.I remember him telling me that one day "I will host a comedy show where Eddie Murphy will be present as Eddie was the comedian that made him start comedy, one day I will perform at the Grammy award,I will create platform where young comedian will be discovered, and I will organise the biggest comedy show in africa and beyond", those were the words of the This comedy Icon. I believed him. Four months later, we met at the audition of Opa Williams nite of a 1000 laugh at Ojays nite club lagos to follow our dreams. He qualified with @Tejubabyfacetv and I was disqualified ,after the auditioning he came to me and introduced Teju to me, in his words, "meet my chairman this guy good die na dem we de look up to for benin" and at that moment the pain of me not qualifying brought tears to my eyes.Basketmouth wiped those tears off my eyes and since then my respect for him grew. Three years later I saw him on the front page of a newspaper, "Basketmouth ready to storm Europe", today he has toured almost every country in the world. The last time I saw him, was on BBC world news before we later meet at Buchi's wedding ceremony where he told me again that he wants to perform in London at a 10, 000 capacity hall on February 14."l don't know how I am going to fill

Spanish actor, Antonio Banderas, was rushed to St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey on Thursday after he began experiencing excruciating pain in his chest while exercising at his home in Surrey. Paramedics were called in following the heart scare to help convey Antonio to the hospital.

Thankfully, it was not life-threatening and the Spy Kids star actor is currently fast recovering from the ordeal, enough to take time out to thank the paramedics.

Antonio moved to Britain in 2015 with his partner Nicole Kimpel after his divorce from his wife of 18 years, reportedly because he wanted to enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle.

Trump's America: U.S football captain Michael Bradley comes for Donald Trump over his immigration ban

Captain of the US men's football team, Michael Bradley, who is also son of legendary U. S footballer Bob Bradley, and has made more than 125 appearances for the men’s national team, has reacted to U.S President Donald Trump's decision to sign a new law that temporarily bans immigrants from 7 countries like Iran,  Iraq and Libya that are considered 'terror prone'.
Back in November, Bradley called for unity following the election of Donald Trump, urging the American public to support Donald Trump fully.

“My general feeling is that we as Americans, we trust our system, we respect our democracy. Regardless of your beliefs, regardless of how you voted, we have an obligation to come together and get behind our new president and to have faith and trust that he will do what’s best for the entire country.
“In moments like this it is easy to question things. But this is what makes our country great, that we have a system where every American can go and vote. The results may not be what every person wanted. Some are happy, others aren’t, but the way forward is to come together, give our president support, rally behind him. He will continue what I believe every president has done — make decisions for the good of the country.”
But Bradley,  known for commenting on Social issues, has now blasted the new US president calling him xenophobic, misogynistic and narcissistic in an interview with Sports Illustrated's Grant Wahl.
“A few hours ago ago I gave an interview to Grant Wahl,” wrote Bradley on his Instagram page .
“After 15 minutes of an interview that was centered around soccer and our national team, he asked me my thoughts on President Trump’s ban on Muslims ... I gave an answer where I tried to make it clear that while I understand the need for safety, the values and ideals of our country should never be sacrificed. I believe what I said, but it was too soft.
'The part I left out is how sad and embarrassed I am. When Trump was elected, I only hoped that ... President Trump would be different than the campaigner Trump. That the xenophobic, misogynistic and narcissistic rhetoric would be replaced with a more humble and measured approach to leading our country. I was wrong. And the Muslim ban is just the latest example of someone who couldn’t be more out of touch with our country and the right way to move forward.”
Sports associations like the NBA and American Football League have already approached Homeland Security to enquire about how Trump's new law will affect their players,  especially those from the banned countries.

'Kcee approached me on bended knees to help salvage his dying career' - Harrysong

On 27th of January, LIB revealed that that the battle between Harrysong and his estranged label, Five Star Music, which is owned by Kcee and his brother, E-money, had escalated. He was reportedly arrested by Policemen on counts relating to breach of contract, fraud among other issues.

Five Star Music later  released a statement explaining why Harrysong was arrested. Harrysong’s new record label, Altar Plate has now released their own statement signed by their senior partner, Desmond Ike Chima. They claim Kcee approached Harrysong on bended knees to help salvage his dying career,

how the Police, who invited not arrested him, dismissed the charges and recommended that Five star music file a suit in a civil court. The statement also confirmed that the singer would not be returning back to his estranged label. Read after the cut.

"It was 8 am and Policemen acting on the instruction of the Assistant Inspector General of Police in Onikan, stormed our hotel room to invite Harrysong over for questioning.
As a law abiding citizen with nothing to fear, we got dressed up and set out for the AIGs office and on getting there we were greeted by the presence of a haggard looking young man in cheap pair of suit, identified as Five Star Music lawyer.

"His awfully shallow reasoning became so evident when he was called up to defend the petition he prepared on behalf of his client (Five Star Music). He suffered a hard time convincing the AIG and his men, including a visiting Commissioner, why the charges against Harrysong were criminal rather than civil.

"Even before any member of our camp could voice a word, the visiting commissioner ( from the way he sounded, a very learned and experienced officer) frowned at the concocted charges and recommended that they dropped the petition and rather file a suit in a civil court instead of bringing the Police into the picture.

"In view of the lies peddled on some social media platforms, I wish to state here clearly that, 1) Harrysong was never whisked away by some mobile police officers to an unknown location; 2) It wasn’t an arrest but an invitation by the AIG, a high ranking police officer, which he honoured. 3) A supposed breach of contract as captured in their petition is a civil and not a criminal case.

"On the other hand, as against the kangaroo statement released by Five Star music earlier today, I wish to also state that Harrysong did not at any time approach anyone or company to sign him; it was rather the other way round.

"Kcee approached Harrysong on bended knees to help salvage his dying career after he fell out with his then partner. As much as Harrysong loved to help him out in that time of need, it is worthy of note that,
1. He (Kcee) was talentless and knows next to nothing about music.
2. Harrysong had a running contract with Questionmark Records, but out of desperation, Kcee and his Five Star Music were prepared to pay off Kelvin Luciano in their quest to have him (Harrysong) at all cost. It would be recalled that Harrysong succeeded in recreating Kcee’s sound, wrote and co-produced his first meaningful single, ‘Had it been I know’, followed by ‘Okpekete’, ‘Limpopo’, ‘Pull Over’ and other songs that defined the Kcee that everyone now knows and celebrates today, all pro bono.

For what it’s worth, Harrysong’s dealing with Five Star Music was with the clause that he would be left to pursue his career whenever he deemed it fit.

As the case may be, we are not surprised at the turn out of things and why Kcee-led Five Star Music has chosen the way of reproach rather than that of honour. The earlier they wake up to the reality that Harrysong had long dumped them in a trash bin and moved on, the better for them, ‘cos’ I can tell you for free, he is not coming back. And to our fans and the general public, I wish to apologize on their behalf and to leave you with these words, ‘Kcee is confused and as such frustrated and we can understand’.
For the records, Alterplate has come to stay and you are free to do business with Harrysong and Alterplate Management, we are indeed the real deal.

- Desmond Ike-Chima for Harrysong

Canada to offer temporary residency permit to those travelers affected by Trump's ban

It has been revealed that Canada will offer temporary residency to those travellers currently stranded by the ban Trump placed on citizens of seven Muslim nations. This was made known by Canada's immigration minister, Ahmed Hussen.

Hussen, who was himself a Somali refugee, stated that no one is stranded at any of Canada's airport at the moment.

"Let me assure those who may be stranded in Canada that I will use my authority as minister to provide them with temporary residency if they need it, as we have done so in the past," Hussen said.

It was also earlier revealed by the U.S. State Department that dual Canadian citizens (i.e citizens from any of the barred countries who also have Canadian citizenship) were included in the ban. However, Daniel Jean, Canada's national security adviser, said that was not the case. He revealed that White House officials have assured them that citizens from the affected countries who are also Canadian citizens are not affected by the ban.

In related news, leaders of Canada's technology sector have signed an open letter urging their government to provide working visa to tech workers affected by the Trump ban. Jennifer Moss, co-founder of a Canadian tech company said such visas are to help tech workers blocked from returning to the US to now live and work in Canada while they apply for permanent residency if they want to.

"If you're not interested in keeping people that are extremely talented, intelligent, brilliant minds from all around the world, and turning them away at the borders, we're happy to take those people in our country," Moss said.

Brazilian girl with rare facial tumour has it removed by US surgeons

Doctors in Louisiana, United States, have conducted a successful surgery to remove a rare facial tumour from a 3-year-old Brazilian girl.

Melyssa Delgado Braga from Sao Paulo was diagnosed with myxoma, a very rare and aggressive tumour which weighed 5 pounds. This condition was making breathing difficult for the little girl and also was pushing her tongue to the back of her throat. In desperation, her parents reached out for help on social media and their saviour came in the form of a medical doctor.

Dr. Celso Palmieri Jr., an assistant professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Louisiana State University Sciences Centre, read a post online and came across the plea for help. The good doctor deciding his colleague, Dr. G.E. Ghali, could be of help to the girl showed Dr. Ghil the photo of the girl then set plans in motion to make it happen.

A month later, Melyssa arrived the United States for the surgery and in December lat year, an eight-hour surgery was carried out and it was successful. Mellisa regained the use of her tongue and her breathing returned to normal after the surgery.

Most sufferers of myxoma generally die a slow, progressive death resulting from both malnutrition and blocked airways and this would have been the case of Melyssa, but for the timely intervention of the US doctors.

Bank Cashier sentenced to 4 years in prison for stealing N9.3 million

A Bank Cashier, 26-year-old David Anibolu, was on Wednesday sentenced to four years in prison by an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for stealing N9, 308,000 from a customer’s First Bank of Nigeria (FBN) Plc account. Anibolu was arraigned on April 3, 2014 on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

It was revealed by the prosecuting Police Superintendent, Chidi Okoye, that on the 22nd of March 2015, Anibolu who was on annual leave came to the bank where he worked at FBN Alaba 2 branch in Ojo under the pretext that he wanted to assist a customer in posting his land use charges. Anibolu allegedly used the opportunity to transfer the sum of N9.308 million from a customer's account into other accounts.

“He fraudulently changed a customer’s identity and mandate card which enabled him to debit the said account of the sum N9 million and transferred it into various accounts,” Okoye said.
It was revealed that Anibolu confessed in a statement tendered by the prosecution that his accomplices, who have all absconded, promised to give him N4 million from the money stolen, however, they disappeared with all the money.

According to the police, Anibolu said,
“I have been working with the bank as a teller since 2011 but on the day of the incident, I used the passwords of my colleagues with the help of “F” Key logger given to me by my friend called Afeez who is now at large. The logger helps link a customer’s identification with another that has online banking, which enables cash to be transferred successfully from one account to another. My regret now is that I was supposed to get N4 million as my share but the receivers of the money have since disappeared. I regret my action."
Anibolu denied that the statement is authentic, claiming he was tortured by the police at the station to make the statement. However, the Chief Magistrate A.O. Awogboro ruled that there was no evidence of coercion or torture and accepted the prosecution's testimony as credible.

The trial which lasted for two years and nine month was brought to a close on January 25, 2017 with the Chief Magistrate finding him not guilty of a count of conspiracy but convicted him of stealing. He was sentenced to four years in prison, beginning from the date of his detention.

Before sentencing, Anibolu's lawyer, Philips Onyama, pleaded for a sentence of a fine, or a lenient jail term for his client.
“He’s a first time offender; he has no father, only a sick mother who relies on him to survive. He has been in custody since March 24, 2014 and has suffered emotional and physical torture. He is also now more sober and refined,” Onyama pleaded.

Breaking News! Federal judge blocks Trump's immigration order from deporting people detained at airports

A federal judge in New York has issued an emergency stay temporarily stopping the removal of individuals detained at the airports after President Trump's order banned immigrants from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S.

The move marks  the first successful legal challenge against the Trump administration and affects those who have arrived in the U.S. already or were in transit with valid visas.
The court ruled on a habeas corpus petition filed by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) on behalf of two Iraqi men who were detained at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Friday after Trump's ban. Since then both men, Hameed Khalid Darweesh and Sameer Abdulkhaleq Alshaw, have been granted entry into the U.S.
Cecillia Wang, deputy legal director at the ACLU, tweeted:
The ruling deals with a part of Trump's order which bars Syrian refugees indefinitely and halts the resettlement of all refugees for four months as the administration reviews the vetting process.

Judge Ann Donnelly of the U.S. District Court in Brooklyn granted the request from ACLU  to stay the deportations after determining that the risk of injury to those detained by being returned to their home countries necessitated the decision.

And only minutes after the judge’s ruling in New York, another came in Virginia when U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema issued a temporary restraining order to block the removal of any green-card holders being detained at Dulles International Airport for seven days.

Brinkema’s action also ordered that lawyers have access to those held there because of the president’s ban.

There have been several protests at various airports since the ban was announced.
